Liposuction

Liposuction is the surgical suction and removal of subcutaneous fat tissue. The technical term for this method is the so-called "aspiration". With this surgical technique, a harmonious transition area between body contours and thus a smooth skin shape are achieved/ ensured. Before the operation, it is essential to carry out a detailed body examination. The anatomy of the subcutaneous fat tissue varies depending on the body parts. Liposuction is considered a very popular cosmetic procedure nowadays. In general, the total fat percentage is higher in women than in men. Fat deposits typically occur on the hips, thighs and lower trunk area in women, while in men they are seen around the trunk, upper abdomen and neck. The dimples in the skin that appear on the hips and thighs in women are called cellulite. Cellulite is considered the metabolic result attributed to the increase in subcutaneous fat tissue.

Liposuction is preferred for the treatment of diet-resistant and genetic fat deposits. More specifically, the best results are achieved with the help of the removal of local fat tissue that is not converted into energy by diet and exercise and therefore cannot be consumed/ burned or gotten rid of naturally. As a result of the procedure, an optimal body contour is obtained through local fat removal. However, liposuction is not recommended for the treatment of obesity. Patient selection is crucial in the appropriate method of targeted body contouring.

Candidates who are suitable for this surgical technique are mainly those who, in addition to a stable body weight, are dieting and exercising regularly. Atypical fat deposits on certain parts of the body or uneven fat deposits outside the ideal body contour are target areas for liposuction. Studies have shown that liposuction also significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, undesirable results may exceptionally occur, such as the so-called contour irregularities are one of the most common complications of liposuction. In addition, slight loss of sensation for a few months, oedema, bruising and infection are among the possible complications. Liposuction is an uncomplicated procedure, but the targeted modelling of the human body by removing the perfectly measured amount of fatty tissue or the quantitative determination of the fat cells essential for the body could be considered a kind of sculpture. Therefore, liposuction must be performed by experienced specialists in a hospital.

Liposuction is the sucking/suction of the fat deposits on certain parts of the body (abdomen, hips, legs, knees, sides of the waist, back area, ankles, arms and under the chin) with the help of a special vacuum or certain syringes for targeted modelling of the human body. Another liposuction technique is the so-called VASER-LIPOSUCTION, which is preferred at numerous renowned beauty centres worldwide due to the lower risk of bruising and pain in the post-operative phase. In addition, VASER LIPOSUCTION offers a much tighter and neater skin consistency compared to the other liposuction techniques.

It should be emphasised at this point that liposuction is not an operation for weight reduction, but an operation for body modelling by removing the excess fat cells from certain parts of the body. Even if the patient gains weight in the following years, there is no accumulation of fat in the areas where liposuction was performed. The procedure can be performed under local anaesthesia as well as sedation (twilight sleep) or under general anaesthesia. The scar marks after the surgical incision of 3-4 mm made in the skin to place the vacuum cannulas may disappear over time after the operation. In the post-operative phase, elastic corsets are worn for 2-3 weeks to support the body for a smooth healing process. After the procedure, the patient can be discharged and they can return to their daily life within 1-2 days. The bruising that may occur after the surgery usually disappears in 3-4 weeks. However, the swelling after the surgery lasts up to 6-8 weeks. In order to maintain the aesthetic body lines, physical aesthetics and LPG applications may be recommended to the patient later in life. Very rarely, in the area of liposuction, especially in the patients:inside with less skin elasticity, undulation (undulating) or wavy skin surface (cellulite) may occur which cannot be eliminated.
