Facelift is a surgical method of rejuvenating the facial contours including the face and neck region. These operations are performed due to weakening (atrophy) and sagging (ptosis) of the facial skin.
The aim of the operation is to give the face a more natural and improved appearance. Loosening, thinning and sagging of the facial tissue are indications for this surgical procedure. In addition, the operation does not affect the quality of the facial skin.
This surgery is not used to treat the harmful effects on the facial skin due to the sun or deeper lines and irregular pigmentation.
Facelift surgery for patients over a certain age; it is the preferred method of treatment for widespread skin sagging, slackening of the tissues in the cheek area and correction of the neck angle with neck bands. Sagging of the skin of the face and neck, the facial-neck fascia and facial contour disorder of patients:inside are the main causes in determining the facelift type.
In the ageing process, together with bone loss (osteoporosis), there is sagging and deterioration of the skin. Smoking and sunlight accelerate the negative changes in the face.

In addition to the facelift, nose, eyelid and eyebrow lift procedures can also be applied in the same session. The scars that result from facelift surgery may be hidden at the temple, in the scalp or behind the ear.
What is the procedure in the post-operative phase of a face lift?
Temporary swelling, bruising, numbness and tension in the face can rarely result in an asymmetrical appearance. These findings often normalise within 3-7 days. After the operation, the dressing applied to the face is opened 2-3 days later, leaving the nose and mouth open. The stitches are removed after one week. From day 2, the patient can perform daily housework and make-up can be applied after 1 week. It is recommended to avoid heavy exercise and sunlight for a few months after the operation.
